when did they start to stamp gold like earrings and rings?

Bought some items in storage auction found a pair of earrings in the old box. Stones Look Like Diamonds, but gold is not sealed. So I was wondering when they started to eradicate the gold? Is there anything I can do at home to see if I oreille diamonds in the loop?

It started a long time ago, but it’s not such a long shot for your jewelry to be genuine even if it doesn’t have a stamp. In some cases, jewelry was originally stamped, but if a jeweler worked on it (like re-sized a ring), the stamp may have been lost in the process.

The easiest way that you MIGHT be able to tell if the diamond is genuine is if you have a loop. When you look at it, if you see small black dots in it, that will indicate that it has carbon deposits, which means it’s genuine. If it’s a very high-quality stone, then you won’t see any deposits, though, so your best bet is to take it to a jeweler. They have diamond testers that will tell you right away if it’s genuine, and they probably won’t charge you for that. If you want an appraisal, it’ll set you back $75 to $100.
